Artsy Trees

New Collection of colorful and fanciful trees coming April 29th!

"Drawing is the artist's most direct and spontaneous expression, a species of writing: it reveals, better than does painting, his true personality." Edgar Degas

Drawing is a pathway to your vision. Slowly, methodically using line to build form. It’s intentional and spontaneous. It’s meditative and energetic. Crosshatching upon crosshatching. Linear marks. I love it all! I’m seeing an exciting series develop through these juicy marks. Invigorating direction.

Day 2

The beautiful sites I observe while walking a dog full of energy. Captured these sunlit towering limbs.

Curiosity & ‘What ifs’

For me, this 100-day challenge is about pushing myself outside my comfort zone as an artist. Being curious and asking the “what if” questions. Using colors I wouldn’t normally use, forcing perspective and making those thick juicy marks. And I have to say this new direction is giving me so much inspiration.

Rosa Rugosa

I’ve always loved these wild beauties strewn all over the beaches in Cape Cod. But never knew their historical significance. I had so much fun adding shades of green and blues in the dunes and that pink sky!

Day 5

Rosa Rugosa, a wild beach rose, arrived at Cape Cod via a ship wreck. It is said they naturalized themselves, spreading across the Outer Cape.

Day 6

Birch trees are elegant trees. They sway in the wind like graceful dancers with their swishing verdant limbs.

Shining Bright

On this painting, I wanted to push the colors of the shadows and foreground. This particular day was very gray. The hints of magenta added that magical touch.
