| SUMMER NOTES | A Vintage Botanical Drawing Collection
Time well spent in nature…
The beauty of vintage botanical prints is their ability to invoke that dreamy, romantic quality of long ago. Imagine English and French countryside gardens filled with floral and fruit specimens with highly skilled artists carefully collecting samples and painstakingly drawing their every detail. I’ve spent the summer sketching such subjects while exploring colors, marks and different mediums. Colored pencils, graphites and charcoals became my tools of choice.
This series of drawings has color tests in the margins, some have imperfections of bent edges which is evidence of the human touch – a working collection of notes. Muted neutral colors of French grey, dusty rose, sandstone and sage add just the right touch of elegance.
This series is partially created on high-quality archival, 100% cotton French-made paper in varying shades of creams and others on high-quality drawing papers. The sizes range from 5x7 to 8x10 and ship unframed.
Pear Study No. 1
This drawing features gnarly branches of a pear tree and their twisty, lively leaves.
Immature Apple Study
I had fun observing this young apple blossom into fruit.
Peach Study No. 1
I love these soft, muted colors on the creamy woven paper with deckled egdes.
