Milkweed is a wonderful gigantic beauty. They are a host plant to monarch butterflies. Their sap is toxic to predators of monarchs, keeping them safe during the growing cycle. Their enormous oblong leaves grow in pairs opposite each other perfect for
SUNDAY: I was gifted a set of drawing pencils recently, so had a sketch sesh. I pulled out my octopus sketchbook with  neutral colored inked backgrounds painted weeks ago and drew trees. Fun!

Continuing with my ‘No wasted paint’ initiative and collaging with my leftover painted paper palette sheets on a randomly painted page. The results are cohesive since these were done with the same colors last week. Just a fun way to recyc
2x2” squares of partially peeled cardboard. Using left over paint from yesterday’s trees. They remind me of tiny landscapes. No plans what to do with these but paint on my hands is always a good day!!
I’m fascinated by trees. It’s interesting to observe the play of light in the intervals of trees trunks. So today I’m exploring that through colors and textures. Using my photos for reference and some watercolor sketches.

Working on landscapes recently and enjoying the colors of these soft pastel sticks and scratching into the thick layers to achieve the smallest of details 🎨🎨🎨
My guy lives next to a wholesale nursery and the rows upon rows of trees
This is a teeny tiny 3”x4” soft pastel landscape. I always challenge myself to push away from local color and go outside the box. Still have a ways to go but loving the direction this is going.
